Sky Rocket Your Marketing Campaigns Right Away Through Simple Testing

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

There are two main components to any undertaking, marketing related or not, that determine if the endeavor will be successful: Research and Testing. All too often we see b2b lead generation campaigns falter because someone jumped the gun or failed to refine their processes until they were running at optimal efficiency. Today, I?m going to talk about the importance of marketing testing and how you can immediately improve your marketing campaigns through simple tests.

Sales lead generation is one of the more interesting sub-industries simply because things are constantly changing. New ideas, processes and technology make b2b lead generation an evolving science. It is because things are changing that, we as seo marketing professionals, must constantly test our work to make sure we are getting the best possible gains from our efforts. Marketing testing is a great notion but is wasted if you don?t have tangible methods of testing.

Marketing testing protocol contains 6 major parts: the question, testing variables, metrics, validation, results and interpretation. You should establish a plan for these six components before any actual marketing test takes place. The question, pertains to what you hope to answer i.e. what conversion beckon will produce a better click through rate? Ask yourself what you are hoping to achieve to create a primary or secondary market research question.

In the testing variables phase you want to clearly describe what exactly you are testing. Make sure to include what will become your variables as well as establish a control sample. For example if you are testing a new landing page to see which design works better, you need to establish various options to test. Option one could be a large table with details on the offer. Option 2 could be a small table with less detail. Option 3 could contain no table and only an offer and a form to fill out. The key is to test each one against one another and establish a clear winner.

The third marketing testing protocol is metrics. Metrics are considered the, ?what? phase in a marketing test. You need to determine specifically what you are going to measure in your marketing testing tests. This could be a number of different things from click through rate, conversion rate, number of times a whitepaper has been downloaded or the number of clicks on a flash piece to an a special offer. It really is up to you what you are going to test and what type of direct marketing strategy you are using.

The fourth testing phase is called validation. In the validation phase you are going to determine various factors regarding the actual marketing test itself. Such factors include the sample size needed to perform an accurate test, the time frame required to gather a sizeable test sample, the length of the test itself and any outside influences that might be a factor during a seo marketing test. Some items to take note of are selection effect (a biased sample), using skewed analytics software (using analytics software which interferes with the code of a website thus making the webpage display incorrectly) and the timing effect (running a direct marketing test during peak months or slow months or running a test on a weekend vs. a weekday.)

The fifth phase in marketing testing is the results phase. The results phase is strightforward, it is important to keep accurate data throughout the duration of the test. The last phase of testing is interpretation. It is during the interpretation phase of a test where the most insight can be gained; not only for the specific marketing test but also for future tests. Notes and records should be filed away so that you can learn from your experiment and build upon it at a later time.

It is crucial to keep in mind regarding testing in sales lead generation is to never stop testing. A common mistake seo marketing professionals make is to test once and then run with the results. Once you run a marketing test and achieve optimal results you should take your best results and see if you can top them. Many times if you run a marketing test three or four different times you will see better results than you previously thought you would. With some practice in testing you will start to see better results with your marketing campaigns.

The Power Of Having Your Own MLM Co-op Marketing Program

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

I have witnessed on a first-hand level how strong doing things for your network marketing downline can be for personally sponsoring and building a downline. In this article I want to give you a few ideas on why starting your own MLM co-op advertising program is a smart thing to do.

1. People who join MLM programs will pay you to do things for them. Thanks to the excellent Internet tools mlm companies provide building a large downline is now as easy as generating quality traffic. Commit to doing a handful of paid and free advertising and you can drive traffic to the websites of your group.

2. You should have a system in place and start by promoting a landing page. The landing page should have a lead capture form on it that sends the prospoects contact information to an autoresponder for future follow up.

Many network marketing companies provide excellent landing pages and also have a autoresponder follow-up system in place for their distributors. This makes it very easy to just promote each individual MLM distributors landing page as the leads are funneled directly into the autoresponder system.

3. Use a co-op rotator either provided by your MLM company or by getting an outside source such as Page Swirl. These are very easy to run because you just input the website URL of each individual distributor and then promote the rotator URL.

This is a fair way to run your MLM co-op program because each distributor receives the same amount of traffic. If you decide to sell shares in your program you can increase the amount of traffic based on the amount of shares purchased by your distributor.

4. You can easily bill for your co-op ad program through PayPal. You can set it up on a monthly subscription to automatically rebill if you choose to do so.

Because you are consistently promoting their MLM business for them, this makes it very hands-off for your downline to join your co-op and then forget about it.

5. You should do all types of advertising. Traffic exchanges, exit pop-ups, text Link ads, article marketing, discussion forums, social networking, blogging, and pay per click advertising are all very easy to do because now you just promote the co-op rotator URL.

Think about what you are really doing for your group! Most people will never master Internet marketing skills. By providing a program such as this you will personally sponsor more people and fewer of you downline will quit.

People join MLM companies because they want to make money. Most of them never make any money because they never sponsor anybody.

By taking your online marketing skills, and using then to help people sponsor via the Internet, you will have a more successful mlm business yourself. This is the power of running you our own MLM co-op advertising program.

Prospecting Sucks

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

Let me say this: prospecting sucks. For 5 years I have been an avid student of network marketing. I?ve listened to hundreds of tapes and filled my library with all of the right books. I got into the right mindset, put affirmations all over my home office, and I?ve worked ? HARD. I purchased opportunity seeker leads, learned how to set up an autoresponder and tweaked those campaigns for YEARS. I tried every recommended lead provider I could find and jacked up my credit card bills to buy said leads. I pumped those expensive, and not so expensive babies through my autoresponder and watched as my live leads poured in, WOW! Now we are getting somewhere, I thought?

I called every one of those hard-earned live leads. I sponsored upwards of 50 people relatively quickly. But they dropped. 99% of those people dropped. They couldn?t duplicate what I was doing. They especially couldn?t pick up the phone and make the calls,
because prospecting sucks.

Somewhere around my third year I got enough guts to start calling other networkers to see if they?d be interested in looking at our opportunity. I made 50-100 dials a day for weeks on end. I?d get totally burnt out and take a few days off, then go back to it. I faired no better than I had before. The only difference was that the networkers were nicer to talk to!

Finally, in June of last year my business changed forever. I learned exactly why I had been ?spinning my wheels?, and why I was only making a fraction of what I should have been making after all of those years of hard work. Most importantly, it was as if all of the bits and pieces from everything I?d ever read came together and it was like ?Ah HA!?, I get it. I immediately stopped doing all of the silly crap I?d been up to- and went to work with the knowledge that my work would actually pay off!

So what did I change about my business? I decided I would make money, not spend it! Seems obvious, but if you realize that most home businesses fail because they are too expensive to maintain, I think you?ll have to agree with my changes. I changed the way approached my business in three fundamental ways:

First, I made the decision that I would NEVER spend more on my business than I would receive as a check for said business. That meant that I would even cancel my autoship if my check did not exceed the cost of product.

Second, I realized that I could not buy a single lead, or place a single paid ad. I had to generate my own leads, for free. I had to do the legwork to find out where the best advertising spots were, and I had to take the time to post in these spots on a daily basis.

I learned to use free ezine ads, forums, and networking sites.

Third, I learned the best way to construct an ad so that people absolutely have to click! I learned about psychological triggers and how to apply them in different ad types.

After taking the time to learn these new tactics, I developed a system and found that I could effectively work my business without making 100 dials a day or selling my first born to the leads companies. I still have leads to call, but they are exclusive, live leads that I generated for free. I am making money, not spending it. I share these tactics with my newly sponsored folks and get them started making money right away, instead of spending it.

So yes, prospecting sucks- but it can be easier, if the right marketing tactics are used. When you work smart, not hard, the end result is time and financial freedom?what was promised to you when you first signed up!
Happy Networking!
